ADULT DISCIPLESHIP FALL BLOCK CLASSES
September 12 – November 28

THE BOOK OF JONAH
The Book of Jonah exegetical study will guide the student to consider God’s universal plan of salvation in the Old Testament for both Jews and Gentiles. The Book of Jonah serves as an excellent Old Testament study for ELC “The Year of Anticipation” focused on missions and outreach. The Prophet Jonah in microcosm serves as an example of the failure of the Nation of Israel to be the light to the Gentile Nations and to all Christians today being called to reach those of different ethnicities. Everyone will be challenged to hear and answer the call of God to bring the Good News of the Gospel to those who may be different from them. Teachers for this class are Larry Johansen and Pastor Mark Carlson. Join them in the Sanctuary in person or via Live Stream from 9:30-10:15 a.m.
THE APOSTLE PAUL TO THE GENTILES
Learn about the most challenging call ever given to any organization in the history of the world. The Christian Church, with Paul, launched forth a deliberate effort to carry the Good News of Jesus to the whole world. Rev. Bob Forsberg will guide this journey to understand Paul’s mission method. Join him in person in LL 10/12 downstairs on September 12th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. A time for questions and comments will conclude each hour-long class.
OUR GOOD SHEPHERD: INCREASING HIS GLORY BY HELPING OTHERS KNOW HIM
God as our Shepherd is a strong and tender image to many of us. Join Women of Emmanuel as we explore in more depth this role of God in our lives, increase our awe at His love and power, and provide mission support for each other to help those around us experience God as their Shepherd also. Class resources will include the book, God’s Word, A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by Phillip Keller, articles from “The Lutheran Witness”, and others. You may purchase the Book for $3.00, but can attend the class without the book. Facilitators are Karen Holdeman and Karen Garvey. Join them either in person or online (Zoom class information below) in The Women of Excellence classrooms downstairs in LL 9/11 from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
