The Gospel?

The Gospel

What is the Gospel?

The Gospel means “good news” and comes from the heart of God. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the best news you can hear: God loves you, forgives you, and gives you eternal life as a free gift through Jesus.

At Emmanuel Lutheran Church this message, as revealed in Holy Scripture, is at the center of everything. It’s not advice about how to live—it’s a promise about what God has already done for you.

What are the core truths of the Gospel?

The Gospel answers life’s biggest questions with clarity and hope.

  • You are loved by God — not because of what you do, but because of who He is

  • You are forgiven through Jesus — your sin is real, but it is not the end of your story

  • You are saved by grace — this is God’s gift, not your achievement

  • You are given new life — now and forever through faith in Christ

“For by grace you have been saved through faith… it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8–9, ESV)

This is the heart of the Christian faith—and it’s for you.

Why do you need the Gospel?

You need the Gospel because sin separates you from God, and you cannot fix that separation on your own.

The Bible teaches that sin is not just what you do—it’s a broken condition you are born into. It affects your thoughts, your actions, and your relationship with God.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23, ESV)

This is hard truth. But it leads directly to good news as revealed in the Old and New Testament.

What has God done for you in Jesus?

God has already done everything needed to save you through Jesus Christ.

Jesus is God’s Son who lived a perfect life, died on the cross for your sins, and rose again. His work was complete—and it was for you.

“God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8, ESV)

Because of Jesus:

  • Your sins are forgiven

  • Your guilt is removed

  • Your relationship with God is restored
