Emmanuel Lutheran Church (ELC) seeks to share God’s love in our local community and throughout the world. Members come from all over the Greater Dayton area. The core strategy of our Mission and Vision is to reach our neighbors through Connection Groups (long-term small groups and new, small missional community groups formed with geographical and intergenerational components).
Emmanuel Lutheran Church, located in Kettering, Ohio, began in 1965 as “The Chapel” for Concordia Lutheran Church, located in Oakwood, Ohio. Worship services were initially held in a nearby school building. ELC was chartered as a congregation of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod in 1968 and moved to and worshiped in what we now refer to as the Fellowship Hall upon its completion in 1969. The current Worship Center, attached to the Fellowship Hall and downstairs classrooms, was dedicated in 1979.
Emmanuel congregation is part of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. What’s a Synod you might ask? Synod comes from Greek words that mean “walking together.” We join together with other Christian churches in the simple profession of faith based on God’s word.
