Adult Discipleship Ministry at Emmanuel provides opportunities for growing in Christ’s likeness through study of the Word to more deeply believe the Gospel, sharing our lives in Christ with one another to build each other up in the Gospel, and encouraging one another to reach out to our neighbors to bring them the Gospel.
Discipleship is learning to follow Jesus in every circumstance of life and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our minds into the mind of Christ. Bible Studies are the primary means for growing in knowledge of the teachings of Christ so that the disciple is better equipped to learn more of Christ while daily following Him. The Mosaic Series, Sunday and Midweek Adult Bible classes, Connection Groups and Fellowship Groups provide the setting for growing in discipleship at Emmanuel.
Sunday Morning Bible Studies
The Mosaic Series is a mosaic of courses taught cyclically to facilitate building mature disciples and equipping them for service. The Sunday Adult Bible Class offerings in the First and Second Trimesters of each year (September to December, and, January to May for 17 weeks) will offer courses designed to lead the students through an educational framework of the Christian Faith; the Confessions of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod; the Mission, Vision, and Ministries of Emmanuel Lutheran Church; Connection Groups; and personal Discipleship. Contact Persons – Adult Discipleship Leader, Barb Keelor and Sr. Pastor, Mark Carlson, 937-434-1798 or firstname.lastname@example.org
In addition to the Mosaic Series, there are additional Topical studies which are offered throughout the year. Below is a link to a list of the current classes being offered, along with links to register for those classes.
Women’s Ministries and Bible Studies
The Tuesday evening studies, held at member homes, and, the Wednesday morning study, held at the church, are facilitated by various women of Emmanuel. The studies have a fall session and a spring session with time off for the Christmas holiday season. The Wednesday morning study meets in the Fireside Room from 9:30 – 11:00 am. Topics vary from season to season. Women of all ages are welcome. Other Women’s Ministries include the “Knit One, Pray Two” Prayer Shawls, Heart to Heart, and Lutheran Women in Mission with contacts Betty Lett, Pam Rafdal, and Pat Malas at email@example.com. Men’s Ministry Saturday Morning Breakfast and Bible Study
The Emmanuel Men’s group, which is part of the Lutheran Hour Ministries Men’s network, meets every Saturday morning at 7:30 am for a cooked breakfast in the Fellowship Hall at the church. Bring your Bible and enjoy a robust discussion as we encounter Scripture verse by verse through various books of the Bible. Prayer, visitation and a helping hands ministry are regular activities. Contacts are Dwight Goforth , Larry Evans, and Dave Malas, 937-434-1798.
Fellowship Groups are gatherings of approximately 25 adult members who meet once-a-month for a meal, a Bible Study or presentation, fellowship, prayer, and occasional service or outreach activities. As members of Fellowship Groups are encouraged to also be a part of a Connection Group, they serve as a means of assimilation of new members into the ELC Church Family and a stepping stone to a Connection Group or supplemental to Connection Group involvement.
